St. Louis' Bounciest Ambassadors

In the world today, there is intolerance, hatred and war. Racial slurs and stereotypes abound. Racial profiling is commonplace. Many would say the world is in discord. We believe the path to peace is a path of cooperation and communication. Teaching children from different neighborhoods how to stand on each others’ shoulders may seem like a strange way to take this path. But it’s the technique used by the Circus Day Foundation!

For the first time ever, Circus Day will be taking its message and methods overseas. Final preparations are under way for our journey to Israel as Youth Circus Peace Ambassadors. The St. Louis Arches, our advanced youth circus troupe, has been invited to Israel by the Galilee Foundation for Value Education to do a residency with their Jewish /Arab youth troupe called the Galilee Circus.

The similar philosophies of the Circus Day Foundation (
www.circusday.org) and the Galilee Foundation for Value Education (http://galilan.com/~hamakom/) make them natural partners. The residency for the two groups will take place July 8 - July 23. The youth circus performers will spend one week working together, sharing circus skills and creating a group show which will then tour Israel.

While the members of the Galilee Circus and the St. Louis Arches are having the most amazing time of their lives as they share circus skills with each other and across Israel, they will be showing the world that is really doesn’t matter where you are from or what your background is, it is who YOU are and what YOU do that makes a difference. This cross-cultural, country- connecting circus will demonstrate in a breath-taking way what can happen when people of different nationalities and backgrounds build something together. These are only children--- but they have a lot to teach the rest of the world. Join us via this blog as we promote peace though pyramids, joy though juggling and harmony through handsprings!
